|
Vascular tumor of the stomach in a rare nonepithelial tumor. This rare tumor of the stomach was reported by Lammers in 1893, not until 1957 was this entity successfully diagnosed preoperatively by Flannery ad Caster based on phleboliths noted to
associated with a gastric mass on upper gastrointestinal examination.
A 32-year-old male was complained of epigastric discomfort. The patients was examined by endoscopy, upper gastrointestinal series, abdominal CT and angiography. The diagnosis impressed vascular malformation or hemangioma of the posterior wall of
the
stomach. Wedge resection of the stomach was performed. The tumor was located in the submucosal, proper muscular, subserosal and serosal layers. The resected specimen showed proliferation of vascular spaces line with a layer of endothelial cells
and
filled with red blood cells. The histopathologic diagnosis was cavernous hemangioma of the stomach. PCD # 9, the patient was discharged without postoperative complication.
